Self-Seeded Start Staging Areas

Sub-4:00 Staging Area! All athletes expecting to run sub-4:00 will line up on the right side of the median north of the Start Line. This Staging Area will include the 3:00, 3:05, 3:10, 3:20, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:45, 3:50, 3:55 and 4:00 pace groups. This Staging Area will start immediately behind the Elite Athletes at 7:00am.

4:00+ Staging Area: All athletes expecting to run 4:00+ will line up on the left side of the median north of the Start Line. This Staging Area will include the 4:05, 4:20, 4:30, 4:35, 4:50, 5:05, and 5:20 pace groups. This Staging Area will hold in place until the Sub-4:00 Corral starts and will then be released by volunteers (at approximately 7:06am).

Please Note: You are not assigned to a specific Staging Area. CIM is the largest marathon in the country without multiple corrals — so you can choose the right place in the field to start for you to perform your best — so please set yourself up for success and help all of your fellow runners have a fair start and a chance to perform their best by lining up in the appropriate Staging Area.

CIM is run on a point-to-point course, which means that the starting line is 26.2 miles away from the finish point.
