Part-Time Registration Manager & Volunteer Coordinator
Position Summary
The Sacramento Running Association (SRA) is seeking an organized, personable, and detail-oriented Part-Time Registration Manager & Volunteer Coordinator to support participant registration operations and volunteer engagement across SRA events and programs.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys customer service, event coordination, and community interaction while working in a fast-paced endurance sports environment. The position plays a key role in ensuring participants and volunteers have a positive, efficient, and welcoming experience before, during, and after SRA events.
This is a flexible part-time position with increased hours surrounding race weekends and major events.
Key Responsibilities
Registration Management
- Manage participant registration processes for SRA races and events
- Assist with setup, maintenance, and quality control of online registration platforms
- Respond to participant registration inquiries via email, phone, and customer service channels
- Process transfers, deferrals, corrections, and participant updates
- Coordinate participant check-in and bib pickup operations
- Maintain accurate participant records and registration reporting
- Assist with participant communications related to race logistics and registration deadlines
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, schedule, train, and communicate with event volunteers
- Serve as the primary contact for volunteer groups, community organizations, and individual volunteers
- Coordinate volunteer assignments, check-in processes, and race-day staffing needs
- Develop volunteer schedules, instruction materials, and event briefings
- Assist with volunteer appreciation and retention efforts
- Maintain volunteer databases and participation records
Race Weekend Support
- Support expo and packet pickup operations
- Assist with race-day participant services and information management
- Help troubleshoot registration or volunteer-related issues during events
- Coordinate with operations staff to ensure adequate volunteer coverage across event areas
Administrative & Team Support
- Assist with reporting, data entry, and operational tracking
- Support event preparation timelines and administrative tasks
- Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and Community Engagement teams on participant and volunteer communications
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Comfortable working with databases, spreadsheets, and registration platforms
- Friendly, professional, and team-oriented demeanor
- Ability to work evenings and weekends around race schedules
- Prior event, volunteer management, customer service, or nonprofit experience preferred
Preferred Experience
- Event registration platforms (RunSignUp, Race Roster, Haku, etc.)
- Volunteer management or community outreach
- Endurance sports or race event experience
- Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- CRM or database management systems
