An avid runner since high school, Tamara ran cross-country in college at UC Santa Cruz where she served as team captain and qualified for the NCAA DIII National Championships in 2006. Tamara is on the Arete Women’s Running Club in Sacramento and enjoys running marathons – especially CIM! She founded Torlakson Events where she specializes in designing and producing high-impact events that help clients advance their communications goals, enhance their brands, and expand their networks. Her clients include Special Olympics and The James Irvine Foundation.
Leigh, a runner for many years, has run 13 marathons and one ultra (Way Too Cool 50K). She is very excited to have completed all five of the “World Major Marathons”: Boston, New York, Paris, Chicago, London, and in September 2010, Berlin. She has run the CIM twice. She is a former board member of the Buffalo Chips Running Club and ran three marathons with Team in Training raising money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. She is a member of the National Ski Patrol, and loves running, hiking and traveling with her husband Bill. She can also be found running around Sacramento selling homes as a long-time Realtor with Dunnigan Realtors.

He has finished all 33 CIMs. Steve has run at least one marathon a year for the last 36 years. He has completed a total of 70 marathons and the Gold Rush 50 K on his 70th birthday taking first place in his division of one deep! Steve hiked the entire 160-mile Tahoe Rim Trail for his 60th birthday to raise money for the Sacramento Eating Disorders and Outreach Program. He also hiked part of the John Muir Trail, raising money for Shriners Hospital. Steve also climbed Mt. Shasta for the Breast Cancer Fund and has climbed Mt. Mera in Nepal and Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina. He thanks John Mansoor, Ellen Moore and Scott Abbott who as our executive directors over the 34 years have kept a steady ship and made a great race even greater.
Muffet, a retired elementary school teacher, has participated with her students and her two daughters in CIM’s Youth Fitness Program since 1991. Many of her young runners achieved a cumulative 100-mile mark during the school year and have gone on to run competitively in junior high school, high school, college, and as adults. Her daughters, now with families of their own, have become serious runners in their own right. She has run several CIMs, the Boston and Napa Valley Marathons, the Way Too Cool 50K and the American River 50 miler. Muffet is also a swimmer, avid birder, hiker, and nature enthusiast. Her goal is to promote life-long fitness trough running and making healthy choices.
Deirdre joined the board in 2002. She’s an avid marathoner, ultra-runner and Ironman triathlete. Deirdre is an Emmy Award winning weekday morning anchor for KCRA-TV and has covered the last 9 Olympic Games. She has two sons who keep her running 24/7. Follow Deirdre on Twitter or Facebook.
Ken joined the board in 2017. He is former miler and cross country runner in high school and at Syracuse University. Julia was born and raised in Carmichael, and presently works as an attorney for the State of California.
