Part-Time Race Day Crew Member
Position Summary
The Sacramento Running Association (SRA) is seeking energetic, dependable, and team-oriented Part-Time Race Day Crew Members to assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of SRA events and race weekends.
This hands-on position supports all aspects of race-day operations and is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in fast-paced outdoor environments, being part of live events, and helping create exceptional participant experiences.
Race Day Crew Members play a vital role in ensuring races operate safely, efficiently, and professionally from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Race Setup & Breakdown
- Assist with event setup including tents, tables, fencing, signage, banners, cones, and equipment
- Load, unload, transport, and organize race supplies and operational materials
- Support course setup and teardown operations
- Assist with start/finish line setup and race infrastructure preparation
- Help maintain clean and organized event areas before, during, and after events
Race-Day Operations
- Assist participants, spectators, volunteers, and staff with race-day needs
- Support aid stations, water stations, course monitoring, and participant flow areas
- Help with participant check-in, packet pickup, and information distribution as needed
- Assist with crowd management and maintaining safe event environments
- Support race timing, finisher flow, medal distribution, and post-race operations
Logistics & Equipment Support
- Move and stage equipment throughout event venues and race courses
- Assist with vehicle loading/unloading and inventory management
- Support operational troubleshooting and quick-response needs during events
Team Support
- Follow instructions from race operations leadership and event supervisors
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and public safety personnel
- Adapt to changing event conditions and operational priorities
Qualifications
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies (typically 25–50 lbs)
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Event, sports, warehouse, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred but not required
Preferred Experience
- Road race or event operations experience
- Volunteer or customer service experience
- Familiarity with endurance sports events
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time / event-based position
- Flexible scheduling based on event calendar
- Early morning, evening, and weekend availability required
- Hourly compensation based on experience
