California International Marathon By the Numbers

Since its inception in 1983, CIM has continued to grow and provide a positive impact for the Sacramento region

The California International Marathon, organized by the Sacramento Running Association, will run from Folsom to downtown Sacramento on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Some key numbers ahead of the race tomorrow:

  • 10,000 marathon runners and 1,000 relay runners are expected to cross the finish line
  • 41 countries will have at least one athlete competing on race day, as well as all 50 U.S. states
  • 75,000 spectators and 4,000 volunteers are also expected for marathon weekend
  • $15 million estimated economic impact for the Sacramento region
  • More than $500,000 raised for local charities and community organizations through leveraged fundraising and direct giving
