Folsom’s Shadrack Biwott, who joined the Sacramento Running Association’s Elite Team last month, finished second Monday at the USA 20k Championships in New Haven, Conn.

U.S. Olympian Matt Tegenkamp won in 1 hour and 10 seconds. Biwott crossed the line in 1:00:20, one second ahead of third-place finisher Abdi Abdirahman.

Biwott took the lead near the middle of the 12.4-mile race, passing the 10k mark in 29:27. Biwott, Tegenkamp and Abdirahman stayed together through 11 miles before Tegenkamp pulled away in the final mile.
