2020 SACTOWN Virtual Run

Due to current public health mandates and a desire to be as responsible as possible with all considerations in mind, the 2020 SACTOWN Run has been altered to become a “Virtual Run” for 2020.

The chief goal of the event has always been for the Sacramento Running Association to work with California and Nevada’s Credit Unions to bring people together to celebrate community health and wellness as an avenue to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals.  That remains our goal, and we encourage our registrants to continue to take pride in their involvement in such a magnanimous cause and take some time to individually “virtually” engage in the celebration of health and your ability to make a difference in the lives of sick and injured children in our communities.

If you do not wish to participate in the Virtual Run and are satisfied with your race entry going to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals you do not need to do anything at this time.

If you would like to participate in the Virtual Run and have your participant packet sent to you, AND/OR receive a deferral into the 2021 SACTOWN Run please follow the information below.

2020 SACTOWN Virtual Run Details:

When: April 13th-April 26th (or whenever is convenient or appropriate for you…that’s the beauty of a virtual run!)
What is a “Virtual Run”?: A Virtual Run is an option to engage in a individual run or other fitness activity when you are unable to gather with others to participate is a social running event
A virtual run is a run or other fitness activity that can be done from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, or on a track. You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it and record it yourself.
You can record and share your effort and achievement digitally and collectively celebrate your achievement and your contribution to helping sick and injured children in your community.
Suggestions for “Virtual Run”:
  • Solo or family run/walk around your neighborhood
  • Solo or family run/walk at a local track
  • Solo or family run/walk on a nearby trail

How do I opt in to the 2020 SACTOWN Virtual Run?

Please log into your Race Roster Dashboard by 11:59pm on March 22 to indicate that you would still like to participate virtually.  Please check your mailing address and update as needed as this is where your race packet will be mailed. The virtual race is only available to 5k and 10-mile registrants.

Runners will also have the opportunity to defer their 2020 entry to the 2021 SACTOWN Run. To request a deferral, you must log into your Race Roster dashboard before 11:59pm on Sunday, March 22.   If you choose the deferral option, you will receive a deferral code in late 2020 that you must use to register yourself for the 2021 SACTOWN Run.
