Why Do You Run?

By: Katie Lambert

Why do we run? Is it for the amazing bling? Is it for the t-shirt? Personal records? The courses? The challenge?

For me, I run for a few reasons.

Running-with-Friends1. The friendships birthed and forged on the trails and roads.
I have met the MOST amazing people through my running. I have met men and women that are not only physically strong, but also mentally strong. It takes a lot of mental strength to run for 2 plus hours at a time. I am consistently amazed by the amount of positive support, encouragement and inspiration I receive from every single runner I have encountered. There is always something new to learn and take away from every runner you see out there.

2. The causes that are benefited through running events.
Wonderful organizations such as Sacramento Running Association, Running for Rhett, Courage World Wide, Cancer Societies, ASPCA, Youth Sports Programs and so much more! How amazing is it that we can go out and do something that we love so much (running) all while benefiting these AMAZING organizations!

3. I LOVE running!
Especially in the Sacramento area, are the views! OH-EM-GEE! If you have never run the trails in Sacramento and watched the sun kiss the earth good morning you are truly missing out on quite the spectacular sight! Also, how cool is the wildlife around here? I’ve run with coyotes, turkeys, deer and jackrabbits!

So, why do YOU run?
