SRA’s perks for members include discounts, training programs and VIP treatment at the California International Marathon

Local runners gearing up for the 2012 season can take advantage of numerous benefits the Sacramento Running Association offers to members.

For a $50 registration fee, runners can join the SRA and enjoy the following perks:

  • A 10 percent discount on all SRA races, including the Credit Union SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run on April 1, the Lake Natoma Four Bridges Half Marathon on October 28, the California International Marathon on December 2 and the recently concluded Super Bowl Sunday 10K Run
  • Eligibility for SRA training programs headed by Elk Grove’s Mary Coordt, a four-time U.S. Olympic Women’s Marathon Trials qualifier
  • VIP treatment at the CIM, including a special start tent with heaters and a special packet pickup area
  • Guaranteed entry into the CIM until Nov. 1

“You have access to a very good coach in Mary Coordt,” said John Mansoor, the SRA’s executive director. “The CIM part alone will save them $25 on the entry fee.”

Registration for the CIM opens on March 1 for runners to take advantage of the lowest entry fee.

The Sacramento Running Association, which currently has 100 members, is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding ways to encourage people of all ages and abilities to run. The SRA is committed to developing new, quality running events that appeal to a broad variety of runners.

SRA beneficiaries include the American River Parkway, youth fitness programs, local running venues and aspiring young runners.
