Run the Parkway
Hello Run the Parkway Runners! Below are your final pre-race instructions. Please be sure to review all the details below for essential race day information! Pay special attention to the parking information, as with the growth of the event things have changed.

This race is put on in partnership between the Sacramento Running Association and the American River Parkway Foundation and is the Official Training Run of the California International Marathon! It is Sacramento’s only race that 100% benefits the Parkway, as this year’s event has raised $30,000 (and counting!) to benefit the American River Parkway Foundation and help it further its mission of supporting the preservation and enjoyment of the Parkway, the "crown jewel" of Sacramento Parks.

Run the Parkway is the Sacramento running community's chance to give back and help maintain this treasured training venue.

Weather
The weather Sunday is looking great--partly cloudy, low winds, and a starting temperature in the low-50s and hitting 70 degrees just before noon. So, you’re welcome . . . and don’t overdress!

Daylight Savings Time:
Remember, the time falls back at 2:00am Sunday morning. Don't forget to reset your clocks Saturday night--and enjoy the extra hour of sleep!

Parking
There are two parking zones available at Run the Parkway. Whichever option you choose, please arrive early (at least 60 minutes before your race start is recommended) and consider carpooling with a friend to reduce both race morning traffic and air pollution!

Zone 1: At William Pond Recreation Area
Zone 1 parking will be open only from 5:45am-6:15am or until it is full, whichever comes first. Because Arden Way is the only entrance to William Pond there will be delays in Zone 1. So if you want to park in Zone 1 be sure to arrive early as the entrance to the park will close at 6:15am sharp!

Zone 2: At Rio Americano High School
Zone 2 parking will be open beginning at 5:45am, at which time shuttles will begin to run from Rio Americano High School to William Pond Recreation Area approximately every five minutes. These shuttles will drop runners off at McClaren Drive and Arden Way just outside the park and will be the best way to avoid traffic delays at the park entrance!

Regular shuttles will return Zone 2 parkers to Rio Americano High School (departing from McClaren Drive and Arden Way) from 8:30am-11:45am.

Please Note: There will be gear check available in the Start/Finish Area at William Pond, so please place anything you want to leave with us in the clear plastic bag you’ll receive at Gear Check.

Packet Pick-up
To avoid long lines we STRONGLY suggest, if at all possible, that you pick up your packet BEFORE race day.

Race Day Packet Pick-up

Starting at 5:45 a.m.
William B. Pond Recreation Area
5700 Arden Way

Please Note: If you don’t pick up your packet Saturday, please arrive early to save yourself (and our volunteers!) the race morning stress of a rushed packet pick-up and a mad dash to the Start Line. This applies double if you plan on taking the shuttle from Rio Americano High School!

Important Information:  We cannot guarantee shirt sizes for runners registering after October 30. If you registered after October 30 we will have shirts available for pick-up at the finish line on Sunday, while supplies last.

Parking
Another reminder to please arrive early (at least 60 minutes before your race start is recommended) and consider carpooling with a friend to reduce both race morning traffic and air pollution!
There will be no drop-offs allowed in William Pond Recreation Area. Once you join the line to enter the park volunteers will direct you where to park. If you want to be dropped off, the shuttle from Rio Americano High School is the option for you! And if you do take the shuttle from Rio Americano to the Start Line, return shuttles will be departing from McClaren Drive and Arden Way from 8:30am-11:45am.

Gear Check
With the introduction of the Rio Americano shuttles, Gear Check is back is back at Run the Parkway.  Gear Check will only accept items contained in the clear plastic bag you’ll be given at packet pick-up. And please write your bib number on your bag before you give it to the volunteers--otherwise you’ll be waiting a while for us to find it once you finish the race.

Pace Team
The Run the Parkway Pace Team consists of experienced pacers, many of whom also serve as pacers at the CIM. They will be in place at least 10 minutes before the start and will be wearing matching, Bright Red shirts and holding red signs with their goal marathon finish time.
