Director of Community Engagement and Fulfillment
Position Summary
The Sacramento Running Association (SRA) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven, and highly organized Director of Community Engagement and Fulfillment to lead the execution of SRA’s community impact initiatives, partner fulfillment efforts, volunteer engagement, and on-the-ground event activations.
This position serves as the operational bridge between SRA’s community presence, sponsorship obligations, participant experience, and event execution. The ideal candidate is passionate about endurance sports, community building, experiential programming, and delivering exceptional stakeholder experiences.
The Director of Community Engagement and Fulfillment works collaboratively with the:
- Director of Marketing, Brand Management, and Communications
- Director of Sponsorships and Partnerships
- Event Operations team
- Volunteers, nonprofits, schools, sponsors, and community organizations
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Programs
- Lead planning and execution of community-based programs, outreach initiatives, youth engagement efforts, neighborhood activations, and wellness events
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, nonprofits, run clubs, civic groups, and community stakeholders
- Coordinate community participation opportunities connected to SRA events and initiatives
- Develop strategies to increase community visibility, accessibility, and participation in SRA programming
Sponsorship Fulfillment & Activation
- Execute sponsor and partner deliverables tied to SRA events and campaigns
- Coordinate on-site sponsor activations, hospitality, booth logistics, signage placement, and experiential elements
- Ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations in partnership with the Director of Sponsorships and Partnerships
- Assist with tracking fulfillment metrics and post-event reporting
Event Experience & Operations Support
- Support race weekend and event execution through community coordination and stakeholder management
- Oversee volunteer engagement, staffing coordination, and participant-facing support initiatives
- Manage community and partner logistics related to expos, activations, and ancillary events
- Help ensure consistent, welcoming, and mission-aligned participant experiences
Volunteer & Stakeholder Management
- Recruit, train, coordinate, and retain volunteer groups and community ambassadors
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community partners participating in SRA events
- Build systems for volunteer communication, scheduling, and recognition
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Collaborate with Marketing on storytelling, promotions, and public-facing communications
- Collaborate with Sponsorships on activation planning, fulfillment tracking, and relationship management
- Coordinate with operations staff to align community programs with race logistics and event timelines
Qualifications
- Be located in Greater Sacramento Region; this is NOT a remote position
- 3–7 years of experience in community engagement, event management, experiential marketing, nonprofit management, sponsorship fulfillment, or related fields
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Experience managing volunteers, community partnerships, or event activations
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments
- Passion for endurance sports, community wellness, and mission-driven events preferred
- Ability to work nights and weekends around event schedules
Preferred Experience
- Road race, festival, nonprofit, or live event experience
- Sponsorship activation or experiential event execution
- Community outreach and stakeholder engagement
- CRM or project management platform experience
- Volunteer management systems
