HISTORY OF SRA ELITE RUNNER SUPPORT

The Sacramento Running Association established a training grant in 2012 for local runners who were Olympic hopefuls for the 2012 London Olympic Games.  It resulted in grant recipient, Kim Conley, making her first Olympic Team with the aid of SRA support.  SRA’s support of Sacramento-area elite runners has continued since then, as they support Sacramento-area post-collegiate runners who pursue the sport professionally.

In addition to grants for training and competition awarded to athletes who live and train in the Sacramento area, the SRA has developed an elite team of runners who are supported by the SRA in an effort to foster and support the sport of running in Sacramento.  SRA has also been one of the industry leaders in providing substantial prize money, performance bonuses, and travel support for elite runners from all over the world participating in SRA races, including the California International Marathon and the Credit Union SACTOWN Run.
